A shadow among the flowers
しおりを挟む
A girl was lying on the bed, her body bound with straps. She tried to sit up, but her movements were unnatural, as if her limbs did not obey her. I noticed how the skin on her arms began to peel off, revealing white bones. It looked like her body was spinning, as if it did not belong to her.
Some of her limbs began to fall off, and a sense of madness hung in the air. The scientists around her were fussing, injecting a sedative. When the needle entered her skin, she calmed down for a moment - her screams died down, and she froze in a strange pose.
But this calm did not last long. One of the scientists came closer, and at that moment the girl suddenly lunged at him with such force that he barely had time to jump back. Blood splashed onto his white coat, and her eyes flashed with a wild light.
I felt a chill of fear down my spine. She looked at him with such horror and hatred that I felt uneasy. The scientist turned pale and rushed to the exit.
I remained standing by the door, unable to take my eyes off this scene. Thoughts were spinning in my head about how to calm down after what I had seen.
I heard the screams of the scientists, and then the sounds of falling objects and the girl's own flesh tearing. She was literally decomposing, as if someone had cut her body in half. Soon the light in the ward went out, as if someone had deliberately turned it off. I began to look out into the darkness, but saw nothing - everything seemed to freeze and become quiet. I came closer to take a closer look, and then a girl suddenly ran out of the darkness and leaned against the glass, screaming in pain. She didn't look human anymore - skin, hair, everything had fallen off. Only muscles and bones remained.
I saw one of the scientists immobilize her, but she still stretched her hands towards me, as if she was trying to tell me something.
I couldn't stand such a sight and ran away, continuing to hear her screams and yells.
What was happening there? I couldn't understand! And I didn't want to.
That's right, Kyo, need to forget about it.
I decided to go to the garden - there I could draw my feelings on paper and try to get rid of this nightmare.
I ran without looking back, trying to drown out the sounds that were following me. My heart was pounding as if it was trying to escape from my chest. Footsteps - heavy and relentless - sounded behind me, as if someone invisible was following me in the darkness. I knew it wasn't real. It was just a game of my mind, born of fear and horror of what I saw.
Every step echoed in my ears, and the rustling around me seemed closer. Leaves rustled under my feet, as if someone was hiding in the bushes, ready to jump out at any moment. I felt cold sweat on my forehead and a shiver run through my whole body. Suddenly it seemed to me that someone touched me - a light touch, as if a shadow slid across my skin. I shuddered and quickened my steps.
Running into the garden, I noticed an old door with peeling paint. Grabbing the handle, I pushed it hard and closed it behind me. The door creaked, as if protesting my escape. I leaned my back against it and tried to catch my breath. There was silence around me, but those eerie footsteps still sounded in my head.
Gathering my thoughts, I took the brushes out of my bag - they were my only salvation from this nightmare. With trembling hands, I began to paint something peaceful on the canvas: green fields under a clear sky, flowers blooming in the sun. I tried to forget about the horror that haunted me - about the girl with empty eyes and a cold smile from the laboratory.
Each stroke was an attempt to break out of this gloomy world and create my own - a world without fear and pain. But even as the paints mixed on the canvas, deep in my soul I knew: the shadow was still waiting behind the door.
While Kyo was sketching on the canvas, trying to focus on nature and throw out of his head everything that prevented him from relaxing, his thoughts slipped to the night sky, where the stars were twinkling. He felt a slight wave of inspiration when Asagi screamed into her pillow in the next room:
- Oh my God, what a fool I am! Maybe Kyo didn't mean that! Oh my God, how will I look him in the eyes tomorrow? I'm so embarrassed!!! Maybe he wanted to confess to me, and I ruined everything? Of course, if you look such a monster in the eyes, you'll curse yourself. I was the one who scared Kyo and now I wonder why he avoids me, and I still have the nerve to demand reciprocity from him!
Asagi hugged the frame with Kyo's photo in her hands and cried like a child who didn't get a lollipop in the store.
At that moment, the doctors entered the dark room, opening it to let in some light. Their conversation broke the silence, echoing in the empty room.
-Did she escape again? - Nurse Hinata asked, looking at the bed, where the straps were torn and there were scratch marks on the mattress.
- We just changed the belts! It's hopeless! It's like gnawing on sunflower seeds for her, - the younger nurse answered, with bewilderment in her voice.
- So we need to inject her with more sedatives, - the male nurse suggested, rubbing his forehead in a tired gesture.
- But that could kill her, and the doctor needs her alive for an experiment, - the younger nurse noted.
- We'll just double the dose a little, so she can definitely fall asleep. In any case, if we don't try, we won't know. We have worse problems. On the very first day, she started influencing the children, remember that boy she scared in the laboratory? We have to keep a close eye on her so that this doesn't happen again. Otherwise, we'll lose our children and our ticket to a happy future, - one of the doctors said, looking out the window with alarm.
- By the way, where's Larry? He was supposed to be watching her, but he disappeared somewhere, - the young nurse noted, looking at her colleagues.
- We'll find him later. Stay here, maybe she decided to take a walk in the garden in search of that boy, - Hinata answered, shaking her head.
- Should I detain her? - asked the younger nurse, lowering her voice so as not to attract attention.
- If she shows up, yes. Make sure no one gets hurt. We can't let her magic get out of control again. Drop everything, look for her before it's too late, - Hinata ordered, and her expression betrayed concern for the fate of her charges.
Meanwhile, outside the ward, Kyo, immersed in drawing, knew nothing about the events that were unfolding within the walls of the hospital. Asagi cooed at her worries, her thoughts swirling around shame and worry, but deep down she knew she had to be strong to protect the ones she loved.
- And try to stay away from her, she is dangerous even for A-rank fighters. And if she deigns to come back, then... - the doctor said, holding out another syringe.
- Do I need to give her an injection? - asked the junior nurse, anxious with anticipation.
- No, what did I tell you? You just need to wait for the right moment and pour the pollen right into her eyes.
- But how... - she was surprised.
- Don't worry, this liquid shoots further than you can see. Or rather, it will if it hits her face. It's okay if it's another part of the body. The main thing is that it will immobilize her.
- Then what's the catch? - asked the nurse with disbelief.
- And you're a smart girl. However, I knew you would ask. If you hit her eyes, she will lose consciousness for a long time, if another part of the body is damaged, she will be immobilized for some time, but without losing consciousness.
- And how long will she last like this? - she asked, trying to calculate all the steps.
- Or rather, you will last. Twenty minutes, maybe less, depending on where you hit. The further, the worse for you personally. So, you should not miss too much. And most importantly, try to behave quietly, she will hear every slightest breath of yours. And immediately after her nervous system is damaged, you must call security. Do not forget, every second counts, and your life depends on it.
- Okay, Mistress, I'm sure I can handle it... - said the nurse, although deep down she was overcome by doubts.
- Oh, and one more thing. There is her blood in the bottom drawer, you will only need to apply it to important parts of your body if you want to remain unnoticed.
- Ugh, how disgusting.
- However, if you want to be her food, then...
- No, no! I will do everything as you said!
- And how did you become a nurse if you are afraid of other people's blood?
- Some things you have to close your eyes to.
- I find it hard to believe, - the doctor said with disbelief.
- Madam, where are you going?
- Report everything to the boss.
- Weren't you planning to stay with me?
- This is not an exam, idiot, but your assignment.
-I understand...
- I am happy for you.
- I will not let you down, I promise!
- I hope so, - the doctor answered in the same tone, but there was already doubt in her voice.
The younger nurse reached for the cabinet. Opening the doors, she came across the chopped up body parts of her assistant, and screamed in shock. That's where Larry went.
She's hopeless.
-Why did they even put her as my partner? - Hinata blurted out, her eyes widening in anger.- However, that girl will do all the dirty work for me, and by morning we will simply throw out the dirty remains of this garbage. Sissies have no place in this profession. Someone else should take her place, someone not as useless as she is.
Clenching her fists, the younger nurse tried to pull herself together. She understood that her life was now in danger, but she chose not to give up. A determined desire to prove her worth was growing inside her.
I started to finalize my sketches when I suddenly felt someone's gaze on me. An incomprehensible feeling of anxiety came over me, and I turned around.
-Who's there?- I said, trying to hide the trembling in my voice.
At that very second, I noticed a shadow flash behind me, and, instinctively backing away, I tripped over a stone and fell. I hope it's not the same girl from the lab!
I was ready to shit my pants.
When I looked up, I met her eyes. The wind played with her long hair, which fell to her waist, and her huge golden eyes, like a cat's, reflected the moonlight. These inhuman eyes studied me with curiosity, and there was something mesmerizing in them. Silence hung between us until I decided to speak.
-I didn't think I'd meet you again, - I said, feeling the coldness of her gaze penetrate me. She was silent for a long time, and I didn’t know what else to say. The conversation seemed to have reached a dead end. But suddenly, as if reading my thoughts, she smiled slyly and said:
— The moon is so wonderful today, isn’t it?
I nodded, and she seemed to like my answer, since she was smiling.
— I’m glad that at least someone besides me noticed it. You humans usually don’t pay attention to such trifles. And that’s very sad.
I sighed with relief - the wolf girl I saved once decided to visit me, and it was a pleasant surprise.
But the tension did not go away.
I felt my hands and whole body shaking.
-Pull yourself together! She started talking to you, so keep up the conversation! - I tried to persuade myself.
— Y-yes… Me too…
— What, you too? - her face changed. The smile disappeared, and that cold look appeared in its place again.
— Glad about this…
— Glad about what? — She came up close to me, and I felt my heart beat faster.
— Well, because the moon is beautiful today.
— You're afraid of me, aren't you?
— Not that...
I couldn't look into those beautiful eyes for long, embarrassment overcame me.
— It's all written on your face.
— Huh? Where? — I grabbed my face in panic.
— No, you got it all wrong, silly, — she laughed, pressing her hands to her stomach.
I didn't understand what made her so happy. What's so funny?
— I was speaking figuratively, — she added, sitting right in front of me and peering into my eyes.
She gently touched my neck, gently running her hand over my skin. It was a strange but pleasant sensation, as if I'd never experienced anything like it.
— I understand the language of every body, and yours tells me that I'm your enemy.
— N-no! It's not like that!
— ?!
— I'm not afraid of you. It seems you're mistaken.
— Then why are you shaking, little lamb?
— I-I don't know myself...
Her tongue lightly ran along my neck, and I felt her rough tongue tickle me, as if playing with my skin. I feel tension in my body, from which I involuntarily shudder.
— Don't be afraid, I'm just tasting you.
She grinned.
— Why?- I asked, confused.
— To find out everything about you.
— Wow. And what will the taste of my skin give you? How will you know who I am? Are you a psychic?
— Not quite.
I see how she licks her lips, savoring the taste of my sweat on her tongue as if she were trying to taste it properly. It was strange and exciting at the same time.
— A wonderful taste. I like it. Not like those nasty guards.
-Huh?
She cute purring and licks her lips, As if trying to taste more of the taste of my body, which was still on her lips.
I can't bear to watch it, I turn away.
-So what did you find out about me? - my interest flared up.
-Well, first of all, you're a virgin...
-?!
She continued to lick her plump lips predatorily, and I listened to her moans as if she was excited, and her legs rubbed against each other, as if she had dirty fantasies in her head.
-So right away to the sore spot, huh?
I sigh.
-Well, you're definitely right.
-...
Wait a minute, is that all? All she can offer me?
-It was as easy as pie, every girl says that to a boy, because usually we don't have sex at that age.
She licking her lips again and biting them vulgarly, she suddenly looked at me defiantly, and then I tensed up. What else could she randomly give out about me? Would it be an exclusive fact about me or would she tell me something that unites me with other people on this campus. For example, that I am human. Or that I hate injections, especially the ones that Nurse Hinata gives us with her sinister grin.
- With a sinister grin...
-?!
Suddenly I realized that we were saying the same thing and she was literally repeating after me.
- What did you just say?
- Nothing...
- Can you read minds?
- Who knows.
- Okay, you can't fool me that easily, you little rascal. Sometimes I speak my thoughts out loud.
She giggled.
- Oh, come on, I can hear you anyway.
- Now I'm going to talk in my head, okay? And you won't be able to hear my thoughts.
-Okay!
"So, who is she?"
-So, who is she?
I flinched when she spoke so suddenly.
-What? Did I speak out loud again?
She shakes her head.
-Don't lie to me!
I know...
-That she's lying!
-Ahh!
-Oh, come on, don't be so scared. I'm afraid you'll faint. Who will carry you then?
"You'll drag me on yourself, and I'm very, very heavy, and I don't care how you do it"
- Well, you know, it's a moot point. On the other hand, you won't make me, because you'll be out cold and...
Suddenly she realized, and a few seconds later she looked at me with joy, as if she had realized everything.
Yes, I was talking to her mentally, and she understood me. Amazing!
- Do you see the wonders of telepathy? Literally opening up a new world to you!
- Yeah. What else can you say about me?
- Kyo Nishimura, height 176 cm, weight 60 kg, blood type O positive. Favorite food is tokoyaki and soup, and hobby is drawing. And next month you turn 18.
- Amazing! You know literally everything about me!
-That's what I was saying, but you literally dug in your heels and stood your ground.
-Don't poke me in the forehead like that, it actually hurts.
-It's okay, pain always goes away... except for moral pain...
For a moment, her voice changed - it became colder and more eerie, which gave me goosebumps. But a moment later, I was met again by a joyful look, full of naivety and fun. Maybe it seemed to me?
I was embarrassed when she hugged me, biting my ear slightly and chewing on it.
I looked down and noticed that her naked chest was quite visible under the hospital gown. Biting my tongue, I tried to cope with the embarrassment and turned away.
-Do you want to touch it?
-No! What are you saying? I will do without it.
-What a pity...
-What?!
She sat down next to me and, leaning towards me, began to gently touch my hand. I felt a shiver run down my spine from her touch. Her eyes were shining with a mischievous fire, and I couldn’t take my eyes off them.
-You know,- she said with a playful smile, - -you look so relaxed. Like you’re ready for something interesting.
I just grinned in response, unaware of what she had in mind. Suddenly, she leaned lower and kissed my stomach through my shirt. I froze in surprise, and my heart began to beat faster. Embarrassment washed over me in a wave - I didn’t know how to react to her bold act.
-Hey! - I blurted out, but there was not a drop of severity in my voice. I tried to maintain a serious appearance, but everything was seething inside.
I felt her stretching the buttons on my stomach.
- M-maybe we shouldn’t?
- Come on, we’re the same age. Or don’t you want this?
I breathed heavily, imagining her gentle tongue touching my belly and caressing it, tasting me entirely, and her tongue penetrating my navel, tracing patterns on it. How she marks my body, declaring it her own, and how a wave of pleasant tingling sensations spreads through my body.
She raised her head and looked at me with a sly smile.
-Your head resembles a bowling pin! - she said with a light laugh.
I froze for a moment, not understanding her words. But when her laughter rang out again, I finally realized the meaning of her joke. Something clicked inside me: I wanted to be angry with her for this comparison, but instead I just shook my head.
-What are you doing?! - I said with feigned displeasure and clenched my fists. Thoughts of "punishing" her for the joke flashed through my head, but I understood: how can I be offended by her? She's a girl!
-What did you just say? - I began to get up, clenching my fists even tighter. - A bowling pin! - she said, pointing at my head.
- Where did you see a bowling pin, you brat?
The embarrassment gradually gave way to playful anger. I decided that I couldn’t just let her laugh at me. A desire to “get even” for her joke flared up inside me. I stood up, clenched my fists, and rushed towards her.
- That’s it, get ready! - I shouted, trying to look intimidating.
But she just laughed cheerfully and deftly dodged to the side. I missed, and instead of catching her, I almost fell to the ground. She laughed again, and I felt how anger began to grow into excitement.
I tried again - I rushed towards her from the other side. But she was fast and agile as the wind. Every time I thought I would catch her, she easily dodged me, as if playing cat and mouse.
- You can’t catch me! — She teased when I missed again.
At that moment, I decided to use my strength and tried to take a sharp step forward. But she suddenly took a step back and deftly tripped me. I lost my balance and fell to the ground with a dull thud, collecting trash and leaves behind me.
I lay on the grass, trying to comprehend what had happened. Scraps of paper and small twigs flew around me. She stood above me with a satisfied smile on her face.
— So? How do you like it? — She asked with a playful glint in her eyes.
I looked up and saw her smiling face. Instead of getting angry, I couldn’t help but laugh. After all, it was just a game — fun and carefree.
— You’re clever! — I said with a smile, getting to my feet and shaking off the trash. She just smiled in response, and I realized: this was the beginning of our friendship, and maybe something more.
She ran her hand over my head. And it was so pleasant that I was ready to purr like a cat.
- Skittles...
- Don't start! - I pouted.
- Okay. I won't call you that anymore. Maybe I'll call you kitty?
I lightly kicked her leg, and she laughed.
- It didn't hurt at all. You don't have to try.
She grinned.
- You're the first person who seemed funny to me.
- Why?
She stood up abruptly and stared into the distance.
- Who knows.
- Wait, are you leaving?
- In any case, they'll find me soon. The best solution would be to voluntarily return to the ward.
- Will you be punished if you disobey?
The question hung in the air, and I felt the tension between us growing.
The evening light was softly filtering through the leaves of the trees, creating a cozy atmosphere in the garden. I sat on the bench, looking at the stranger who had come out into the fresh air, enjoying the peace and quiet.
-It’s not as harsh as everyone else says. I just wanted to get some fresh air. It’s so boring in the ward, you know. Especially when there’s nothing to do,- she said, looking around at the flowering bushes and bright flowers.
-Yes, I understand,- I answered, nodding my head.
She took a step towards the exit of the garden, and I felt that I didn’t want her to leave.
-Okay, I have to go. See you later...I hope so...,- she said, and there was a note of regret in her voice.
I took her hand. It’s amazing, she’s so fluffy, like a kitten.
-Wait, - I said, not letting go of her.
-Huh? — She turned around, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
-Why do you look so familiar to me? You look just like the girl from my drawings.
I handed her the drawing, and she took it carefully, as if it were a crystal vase, and began to examine it.
-You draw beautifully. But I don’t see anything in common with me. My appearance is completely different.
-Why did you decide that?
-My hair will be lighter, and my eyes will not be green, but bright blue.
-Right now, your eyes are yellow.
-Let’s skip this moment...
She sighs heavily, continuing to examine the drawing.
-Okay. It still looks like me.
I smile, because she admitted it. When the wolf girl is about to leave, I lightly squeeze her hand. And she looks at me awkwardly.
-Yes? Do you need something?
- Name…
- What?!
- Tell me your name. I'm Kyo. What's your name?
The stranger smiled faintly, her eyes sparkling with a playful light.
- Hm, let me think. What do you want my name to be?
- I'm serious... Can you not make fun of me? - I said, feeling the excitement growing.
- I'm Ahri, - she said, and there was confidence in her voice.
-Huh?
- You asked my name, I told you, - she answered with a slight grin.
- Right... N-nice to meet you, Ahri, - I said, trying to hide my embarrassment.
She nodded at me and got ready to go, but I didn't want this moment to end.
- Wait.
- Well, what else? - she asked, turning around with slight bewilderment.
— Let's meet here tomorrow, around this time?
— Hmm, what time is it now? And when is tomorrow?
— I seriously want to see you, even though every day! — I insisted, feeling my heart beat faster.
— You're not that easy to fool, are you? — she said defiantly, and her eyes sparkled.
— You almost did it, — I grinned, not looking away.
— Well, okay. Maybe I'll be able to come at the appointed time, — she agreed, and there was hope in her voice.
— You can be late, of course, — I added with a smile.
I grinned, and at that moment something more than just a conversation arose between us. The garden was filling with evening sounds, and I knew that this moment would be remembered for a long time.
- And you allow it? - She asked with a slight smile, raising an eyebrow.
- Beautiful ladies don't need permission, - I answered, trying to sound confident.
For a moment, I saw her face slightly blush, but soon she returned to her usual expression.
- Then until tomorrow, and I'll keep the drawing with me in honor of our friendship! - She said, waving the sheet of paper with my drawing as a farewell, and, like a bird, jumped from branch to branch, gracefully moving her body. Her movements were truly attractive, and I could not take my eyes off her. Finally, she climbed to the highest branch of the tree, smiled widely at me and waved goodbye. I opened my mouth to say something, but at that moment I was blinded by the light of the flashlights.
- Nurse Hinata, teacher, Commander Friedrich? - I was surprised.
- What are you doing here so late at night? Didn't Asagi tell you about the curfew?-Nurse Hinata said, looking at me with confusion.
-Are you alone here? I thought we heard voices, - she added, squinting.
-Y-yes, miss... - I muttered, feeling embarrassed.
-I told you not to give him any slack while he was under that witch's influence, - said Commander Friedrich reproachfully, and I remembered her smiling face. She didn't look like the horrible monster everyone called her.
That's strange... If you took away her ears and tail, as well as her fur, she would look like an ordinary girl.
-Come on, Kyo. You have no business being here while there's a dangerous monster roaming the area. What if something happens to you? - the teacher said insistently, taking a step towards me.
- Wait, Haruka... - the nurse stopped him, and I felt the tension building inside me.
- Huh? - he turned around, looking at me with curiosity.
- Kyo, I think you weren't alone here, - Hinata said, and there was insight in her voice.
I felt my heart beat faster. But my desire to get to know Ahri better was much stronger. For the first time in my life, I lied so much. Ever since she appeared, I began to change in a different direction, and it scared me. However, my interest will not fade. I will get to the bottom of the truth and find answers to my questions.
-No, you imagined it, - I said, trying to sound confident, but the sharpness of my voice surprised even me.
-Are you sure?- she asked, raising an eyebrow. There was doubt in her eyes, and I realized that it would not be so easy to deceive her.
-Yes, miss, I swear on my life,-I answered, and to enhance the effect, I fell to my knees and began to bow.
The adults glanced at each other, and I noticed how their faces distorted with worry. However, the nurse did not seem surprised. What did she think of me now? Had I managed to hide my true feelings?
-Get up, Kyo. And go to bed,- she said with a slight reproach in her voice. - Starting tomorrow, you will return to classes.
-W-what?! So quickly?-teacher could not contain my surprise.
-The council has changed its mind, and you should be glad that this young man will be learning about the world. It's better than letting such talent go to waste,- Hinata added, and there was a confidence in his voice that inspired hope.
I felt a mixture of joy and fear boiling inside me. Returning to my studies meant that I would be able to see Ahri again, but it also meant more responsibility.
— T-thank you for standing up for our student, — the teacher said, sincerely grateful. — I am very grateful to you!
— It is not my merit, — Hinata answered, trying to soften her delight. — The council simply took a fancy to this boy. That is all.
At that moment, the teacher, not holding back his emotions, pounced on me with hugs.
— Ah, what joy, Kyo! Congratulations! I believed in you until the very end! And finally, a miracle happened, — he exclaimed, his voice filled with happiness.
— And yes, Kyo, if you suddenly notice this rubbish, then be sure to let us know, — the nurse added to the conversation, and seriousness was heard in her tone.
— I-I promise! — I nodded, although doubts crept in inside me.
Nurse Hinata definitely knows something. What the hell is this "crap"? What the hell have I gotten myself into?
---
After meeting Kyo, Ahri walked calmly to the ward, strolling through the wildflower garden and inhaling their sweet scent. Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a spider lily with blood flowing out of it. At that moment, the junior nurse came out from around the corner, pointing a pistol with capsules at her.
-Guess who? - she said with a grin.
-No need to guess,-Ahri answered, not showing an ounce of surprise. Her cold gaze seemed to pierce the nurse's soul, although the girl herself tried to hide her nervousness.
-What a pain in the ass,- she muttered, standing up and smiling predatorily. The nurse stepped back slightly, but did not remove the sight.
-Can't I enjoy the flowers under the moonlight anymore? - Ahri continued with a slight mockery.
-Stop using beautiful words. Better tell me what you did.
- What happened? I thought there was peace and quiet between us, not enmity. I would like to be friends with you, little Lu-lu~
- Don't call me that!
- Why do you hate me, Lu-lu? Is it because I ran away from the ward again and didn't warn you? You know, I got to know a strange boy there better. He saved me from the evil guards. I told you before. He was kind to me and very polite. And his head looks like a big bowling pin! When I told him about it, he got angry and almost killed me. But he's still adorable!
Ahri was embarrassed and laughed, but the nurse decided that she was deliberately changing the subject. It irritated her. How could she act so easy when she killed her friend?
- Stop talking like nothing happened! I'm sick of you and your actions! Why did you do this to Larry? What did he ever do to you? Larry was a good man! He often took care of you and helped you with everything, and you repaid him like this!
- What? Larry hasn't brought me a soda yet?
The younger nurse saw Ahri's carefree behavior and became extremely angry. She hit the girl so hard that she fell to the ground. Not giving Ahri a chance to catch her breath, the nurse began to push her and kick her in the stomach every time the girl tried to get up. However, Ahri was defiant: she stood up again and again, breathing heavily and looking at her defiantly. There was something else in her gaze - sympathy?
- Larry... I don't know where he is... I swear...
This finally drove the nurse crazy: how could Ahri pretend to be a fool? Larry was her best friend; together they were like two halves of a whole. But now Ahri stood between them, and only shadows of the past remained of her friendship with Larry. The nurse pressed the gun to Ahri's head so hard that she yelped in pain.
-Maybe I should shoot your brains out and blame it on an accident? Like the pollen didn't get into your eye in time; you attacked me with the intent to kill, and I was just defending myself... How's that for a reason to get rid of an evil like you?
-What are you standing there for? Go ahead and shoot! But I'm not sure you'll hit me.
Ahri was clearly enjoying this game; she was interested in seeing the new girl's abilities. However, the nurse didn't appreciate this gesture: she hit the girl on the head with the butt of her gun so hard that she fell to the ground and grunted in pain.
Ahri tried to get up, but the enemy stood on her back with his high-heeled shoes; the sharp heels dug painfully into her spine. The girl growled in pain - it felt like her spine was being crushed.
At that moment, the garden was silent; only the wind whispered among the wildflowers, as if trying to soothe the suffering of the two girls, one of whom was full of hatred for the other for the harm she had done to her friend.
The nurse stood over Ahri, holding a gun in her hands and her heart full of rage. Her breathing was heavy with anger; she felt betrayed by those memories of her friendship with Larry. Every word Ahri said cut her soul like a knife: how could this carefree girl forget that horror so easily?
Ahri, on the other hand, lay on the ground with her head held high; even under the pressure of pain, she maintained her independence. Her eyes showed understanding of the nurse's grief and fear - but this understanding only increased her own contempt for the situation.
The moonlight softly illuminated their faces.
One full of hatred and thirst for revenge; the other - frivolous playfulness even in the face of death. The wind continued to whisper its secrets among the flowers; they were witnesses to this cruel game of fate between two girls - one of whom was ready to pay any price for her freedom.
- Let me go, Lu-lu! Let's talk calmly. Or kill me if it makes you happy.
Ahri tried to break free from the nurse's grip, but she only squeezed her hand tighter, making her groan in pain.
- **Unfortunately, I got carried away. What I have in my hand will not kill you - it will only weaken your body for a while. This may give me a chance to finish you off. But before I do, I have one last question for you. Are you ready to answer? - Lu-lu looked at Ari with a cold glint in her eyes, waiting for an answer.
- Yes, I already answered it. - Ahri tried to speak confidently, but her voice was shaking with fear.
The nurse didn't appreciate the joke and pressed harder on Ahri's spine. The girl cringed in pain and closed her eyes.
- Don't think that you'll leave this life so quickly. I'm not going to let you go.
Lu-lu raised her hand and showed a note stained with blood. Larry's scent filled the air around them. The note had the following text written on it: *"Experiment 366 is mine. If you don't agree to give her to me voluntarily, then I will kill you all until I get what I want. Each and every one of you will suffer, and hell will seem like heaven to you - if there is one. Give her to me at seven o'clock tonight. I hope that my conditions will be met; otherwise, I will take action. Ciao~"*
Ahri felt a chill down her spine; her gaze changed - now it was full of fear.
- **You don't have anything to tell me?** - Lulu leaned closer to Ahri, her voice even more threatening.
- No. - Ahri tried to sound confident, but inside, everything was clenching with horror.
- You're lying! You always tried to cover up your crimes by shifting the responsibility to others! At first, it was stupid excuses: "I went to the toilet; he wasn't next to me, and when I came back, I found his body torn to shreds! So I couldn't do anything to help him!"
Lulu waved her hand and threw the note on the floor next to Ahri. She leaned even closer and hissed:
- Then you started slipping notes near the corpses! As if you hoped that someone would believe your cheap prank! Every time, it was the same reason: "I don't know anything; I wasn't there; figure it out yourselves!"
Ahri felt a surge of rage and determination; She straightened up and met Lu-lu's gaze directly:
- It wasn't my fault what happened!
Lu-lu froze for a moment, taken aback by the answer, and then grinned:
- Oh, my! How brave of you...
She took a step back and considered Ahri's words. The air was tense; both girls knew there was only one way this confrontation could end.
The nurse lifted Ahri's shirt, and her eyes reflected fear. Ahri noticed how her hands were shaking and her eyes were looking away, as if she was afraid to meet her face to face. Afraid of what Ahri was capable of. But could she possibly understand that there was something much more complicated behind this situation?
- It wasn't me, I swear! - Ahri blurted out, her voice shaking with desperation.
- Wait, I'm not done yet. Do you know what the funniest thing about this situation is? You didn't think it through as well as you thought. After each of bloody killings, you were found next to the body of the murdered man, crying and grieving over the loss. At first, everyone believed you, but then they realized: there was no evidence to prove that anyone other than you was at the crime scene. You can play the innocent lamb, but in reality, you are a wolf in sheep's clothing. But who am I telling this to? A wolf!
Ahri tried to break free from the nurse's grip; the fabric of her clothes began to tear under the pressure.
- **You're trying to pretend that you were not involved in this. Did you think that if you ran away from the crime scene, no one would blame you? Your only mistake is that you do not know how to properly forge evidence. However, beastmen are not distinguished by high intelligence; they are driven only by cold calculation.**
Unable to bear the insults, Ahri sharply struck the nurse's face with her claws. She screamed in pain and let go of the wolf for a moment.
- Don't you dare insult my species! You have no right to do this! You know too little about people like me. You judge only by your position - a murderer and a tyrant!
Ahri met the nurse's gaze with pride and determination; a fire of defiance burned in her eyes.
Ahri's words stuck in the nurse's head like sharp needles, causing a storm of memories in her. The tortured body of her partner Larry appeared before her eyes again, returning her to the place of that tragedy that so deeply wounded her soul. But this time she saw how his body, mutilated and bloody, climbed up her leg. His claws dug into her flesh, leaving bloody marks like marks on her mind.
She felt Larry calling out to her for help, his voice an echo from the underworld, full of pain and despair. He pointed at Ahri, asking her to avenge his suffering. Larry's insides touched her hand, cold and slippery like a snake; she breathed heavily, covering her ears against the laughter of her opponent, which echoed in her head like an ominous melody.
-Put me back together! - he whispered with agonizing urgency. - Stitch me up!
The nurse felt his insides wrap around her hand; she could barely contain her sobs. When she shook her head in horror, Larry grabbed her hand and ran it over his intestines. Their cold surface was covered in blood and mucus; they were dead and lifeless.
-No! - she cried out in despair.
She kicked, holding back the urge to vomit; tears blurred her vision. But despite this, she understood everything that was happening - she felt the slippery internal organs and how blood poured out of them with each movement of Larry. The fetid smell of death filled her sense of smell; she was ready to spit out her lungs just to stop breathing and end her suffering. But it did not end.
Larry unclenched the girl’s hand and touched it to his heart - still beating under the pressure of death. Each beat was like a hammer blow to her consciousness; the nurse never liked these sounds - they made her sick and afraid. Now she was going crazy from this sound, feeling the approach of fainting - but for some reason she could not fall.
-Stop mocking me! - she screamed in madness.
Larry forced her hand to squeeze his heart. She crawled along the ground in panic, screaming in fear and trying to get rid of these terrible sensations. But her hand did not obey; it continued to squeeze the heart so hard that the girl could feel every beat - as if she was trying to take his life. It seemed like an eternity.
Soon Larry's heart was torn apart by strong pressure; the nurse literally saw what was left of the heart - torn remains of flesh and blood splashed around her. Part of this nightmare ended up on her: hot drops of blood flowed down her skin, leaving terrible marks behind.
She screamed in horror, realizing the abyss of fear and grief around her. At that moment, the world around her became a real hell.
The girl wanted to scream, but the scream stuck in her throat, as if an invisible hand was squeezing her trachea. Suddenly, she felt something foreign stuck in her throat, and, unable to bear it, she began to vomit on herself. But only saliva came out of her mouth, and the huge body inside her was moving, as if trying to get out. It was excruciating - something was scraping her throat, and she could neither spit it out nor swallow it. Each jerk forced the object out of her throat only a few centimeters, and it did not even reach the esophagus.
She grabbed her throat, choking with fear and pain. Her hands darted around, looking for a way to grab this terrible body, but it was stuck so tightly that it seemed to have grown to her. Time stretched out to infinity - coughing mixed with lack of air and unbearable pain. And suddenly she vomited on the ground; she gasped in horror when she saw what was in her throat - a dirty, torn off hand with torn flesh and pieces of earth under the nails.
-This is how your soul points out your sins-Ahri said suddenly, causing the nurse to shudder in fear.
At that moment, she felt a strong hand pushing her straight into Larry's intestines. Her head sank into his insides; she felt every fold of his body. The nurse choked on vomit and the taste of his entrails; the vomit mixed with blood, creating a hellish mixture.
Unable to bear this torment, the girl pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed herself in the liver. Pain pierced her body; she felt hunger - hunger for her flesh. Greedily began to bite off pieces of her skin, blood splashing around.
Ahri looked at this in horror and tried to take the knife away from her. But the nurse drove her away; when the she-wolf tried to help her again, she suddenly pounced on Ahri with a knife. Ahri's hand was in the path of the blade; the nurse's blood poured hotly over her body.
To stop the bleeding, Ahri tore off a piece of her dress and reached for the nurse's wound. She saw a huge gash: torn pieces of flesh and a liver cut in half by a knife. The sight almost made Ahri faint; despite all the horrors of life, she shoved a piece of cloth inside the wound and wrapped it around it.
-This is what happens if you hate yourself so much, - she said in a trembling voice.
Suddenly, a barely audible sound was heard from the bushes - a glaring gaze pierced the darkness. Ahri's wolf ears caught a soft growl. And before she could understand what was happening, the figure disappeared into the night along with the nurse. Ahri was left alone in the chaos and blood; it seemed to her that her mind was leaving her - the world around her was falling apart.
From the strain, her head began to spin, and she lost consciousness. When Ahri awoke, she was surrounded by the dark walls of a damp basement, and the air smelled of mold and rot. She couldn't tell how much time had passed. She could hear rustling sounds and quiet voices around her - they were her tormentors. Their faces were blurry shadows, but their intentions were clear: they were trying to figure out what had happened.
-Where is she? What happened to her?-they demanded, beating her again and again. But how could she explain something she didn't understand? A nightmare that defied logic was unfolding before her eyes.
After another failed attempt to beat the truth out of her, she was thrown into a dark basement. There was silence here, broken only by the rustling of small creatures. Ari felt spiders and other creatures crawling on her skin. Every time she tried to free herself and move to another place, she came across sticky webs and strange objects - the remains of something terrible.
Fear overwhelmed her; it was one of her deepest fears - webs and spiders. She couldn't cope with it; the only way out was to scream into the silence of the basement, showing everyone her horror of the world around her.
Every rustle made her heart beat faster; she felt like she was on the edge of madness. The darkness thickened around her, and the fear became more and more real. This was the beginning of a chain of strange events - events that turned her life upside down and forced her to face her deepest fears.
Ahri knew that in order to survive in this hell, she had to find a way to get out of here. But how? Every time she tried to get to her feet or take a step forward, fear paralyzed her. Not only was she physically trapped - her mind was trapped too.
